PARPÚBLICA is successor to Partest SGPS, SA, created at the end of 1991 by Decree-Law no. 452/91, of 11 December , by splitting IPE, SA, of nationalized assets directly and to which Law no. 11/90, of April 5 , opened the possibility of being privatized.

Thus, the initial vocation, which still remains, was the development of reprivatization processes.

In 2000, and through Decree-Law No. 209/2000, of 2 September , PARPÚBLICA was created, with Partest's Assets and Liabilities, plus others, assigned by the Treasury, for the realization of capital which, for this reason, however, it was increased, as a way to provide PARPÚBLICA with the means to fulfill the new missions defined by the shareholder, namely to create business vehicles to support the valorisation of the public real estate heritage and extend its action to the management and monitoring of other participations in addition to those for short-term privatization.

Since its creation, the group has created shareholder value and has been able to evolve to respond to the challenges that are posed to it.
